Smells Like an Old Hermit [benjiro]

Shirana head was lowered as she walked across the stone, her pads sore from walking on it for so long. Her pelt was filled with dust and cobwebs from the ruins. Shirana couldn't wait to return to the land she called home, but first she needed to do some business with an hermit. Shirana tiredly sighed as she stopped in front of the entrance to the hermit and queens, if they were within there. Well, this is it Shirana thought as she entered and glanced around curiously. She did not see the bodies of any animals. Instead of yelling out, Shirana stood still patiently, waiting for something to slip inside.

An ugly old bobcat looked up, awoken from his slumber by the sounds of paw steps. "Who dares to enter my keep?" The cat said in a raspy voice. He didn't step out of the dark but his eyes glowed as he stared the figure down. After a few blinks his eyes adjusted to the dark and he noticed his was a wolf. "What brings you here wolf?" Benjiro got up and slowly walked over toe the canine. She was larger but he didn't care. He stopped short where the light would hit him most, a little of his face showed as well a paw, leg and a bit of his shoulder. The rest was hidden in the inky blackness around them. A few lamps flicked behind the old cat but few of them and where they were, piles and piles of books laid around them. Some open some closed, others worn down from age while some still looked new and fresh. Benjiro stood in front of the wolf and waited for her to speak.

Shirana refused to flinch when an voice came out from the shadows. Squinting her eyes, she managed to make out the body of the bobcat, standing in the darkness. "Sorry to disturb you from your slumber, but I wish to be blessed so I can rule an group" Shirana said with no emotion, staring seriously at the feline. Shirana's nose wrinkled when an horrible smell came from the bobcat. what was the last time he bathed? she thought, but didn't say out loud because that would be extremely rude. Shirana bowed her head in respect for the bobcat.

The old tom cat let out a howl of laughter that soon turned into a fit of caughing, a rattling sound. He stopped, weezing a bit before meeting her directly in the eye, stepping into the three moons light. His face was covered with scars and his body, his fur was matted and grey here and there. Some white hairs shown on his muzzle, showing age. "Very well. Follow me." The old bobcat turned and limped back into the cave, grabbing a latern before limping off towards a tunnel. It was dark and instantly he disapered besides the light. The only thing guiding his way.

The tunnel wasn't long and soon opened up into a cave. The roof had a hole where the tree moons shown down, glittering in the water in front of Benjiro. There was two statues, one an Eagle the other a Bear. The old tom set the lantern down beside him turning around to look at the creamy hued she wolf. "Come here child." His voice raspy but unexpectably soft as she spook to her, "this is a very big day. The two Queens will bless you with fore sure life and death, but you may get something else based off your personality or looks. Speak out your full name and the pack you wish to command then drink the water and relax, clear your mind. And sleep,
I'll be right here." Benjiro nodded at the pool. "Here you will reconize your true soul, your true self." The old feline said before backing away

shirana blinked, confused to why the bobcat broke out into laughter, but she relaxed when he spoke and walked back into the shadows. shirana followed him, and found herself standing in a large cavern with two statues, and there was an hole in the ceiling where moonlight poured in. shirana thought the place was beautiful, and she wanted to stand there forever but the bobcat continued to talk. "Shirana, Ever-Flake Pack" Shirana said in a hushed voice as she took an deep breath, then bent down to drink from the pool. The water was crystal clear, and was very refreshing. Shirana suddenly felt tired, but she tried to stay awake to drink more of the amazing water, but her eyes closed without her permission and she fell in a void of darkness.

Benjiro watched Shirana with his intense pale orange amber eyes. He laid down knowing this could take hours, so he got comfortable, tucking his paws under his chest and cranning hs neck closer to him. Underground the place was freezing so every one in a while he inched closer to the heat the lantern gave off bbut it didn't little to sustain him.

There was a blinding white light that broke through Shirana's consciousness where two glowing objects of light that hovered in front of the creamy white wolf. One carried an auroma of blue light while the other held a red. The blue one spoke up first in a screech, "rise the Wolf named Shirana" The voice of Queen Chaya echoed loudly. Her forum became clearer as she toned down her glow, landing in front of the wolf. She was a giant compaired to Shirana, much bigger and around the size of the statue that was under their temple. The Eagle looked the wolf in the eye and shortly after shrunk down to the normal size of an eagle. The next voice was more gruffy as the bear toned down her red aroma, coming into view as a polar bear. She was at the same hight as the Eage but was a bit more bulky, strong looking and very powerful. "Why have you come here? Queen Mara's voice was deep as she looked the wolf directly in the eye, already knowing the question. Queen Chaya spoke up before her sister looking back at the wolf, "what my sister is saying is why do you wish to be a ruler? An Alphaess? The bird said in a nicer softer tone. Both creatures where amazingly beautiful and alluring to any mortal; male and female alike. The Eagle flapped her wings once to more closer to Shirana her curled deadly beak only inches from the wolf's face. Chaya waited for a few minutes before her sister spoke up, "do you know who we are?" The Polar bear growled as she stepped forward too, her muscles flexed under her thick white hairs that hid her black skin. The both stared at the wolf as they awaited for her reply.

Shirana felt like she was floating amongst the dark, the shadows that shouldn't seen in the world when a blinding flash of light burned in front of her, making her wince and close her eyes before the light faded. Shirana's eyes widened as two globes of light floated in front of her. They became clearer after a short while. The blue one was an bird, and the red one was an bear. Do they represent evil and good? She thought before speaking. "I wish to be an Alphaess so I can start an pack that would help others instead of demand of power, I wan't to make an pack so others can join when they need an second chance, and no other pack could give them that chance. An chance to forget the past and make an brighter, better future" Shirana paused to cock her head to the side and think. "Are you queen mara?" she said towards the polar bear. "And are you queen chaya?" she asked of the eagle.

Queen Mara snorted at the reason of why this wolf was here. But she did smile when Shirana got her name right, "yes it is..." Mara didn't show her her grin but she was clearly pleased about this. Queen Chaya sat up, moving away from Shirana's face. She sat there in thought ignoring the wolfs question. She was the Llife of Nisyros while Mara the Death, but she also passed judgment on others before Mara did justice. She judged on many creatures and felt that Shirana's words where true and convincing, "very well. I Queen Chaya, grant you the power of Life." She turned her head around and plucked off a feather before taking Shirana's necklace. She set her golden feather on it and it turned to ashes, the gold absorbing the feather as it did a golden image of dust formed a flower. Afterwards Mara came along and looked down onto the necklace. She let a single tear fall from her eye down to her cheek where it fell onto the necklace. The golden image on the flower turned black and red as it wilted away. After that Chaya picked it up and put it in the water below her. As she dipped it in it turned gold with a spiral mark. "As your intentions are good beware that some others are not. Be careful of who you trust with your life and who you would protect. You have a golden heart but even the purest of hearts can turn black or be swayed. Your one who can convince most into believing in themselves again. Use that well, " Mara and Chaya said together before slipping the necklace back on and once more everything was dark.
