Taking Flight

Aldara flew above the ravine looking down at the rushing waters below. She scanned the area looking for any prey, she wasn't that hungry but she was in the mood for a little snack. Her head was tilted listening for anything on the ground, all she wanted was a small mouse or squirrel. Soon she heard it, the scurrying of tiny feet on the soft sand next to the ravine. She tilted her head back to a normal position looking at the mouse. It had no idea that it was being hunted and it wouldn't have much time to think either. Aldara folded her wings to her side letting herself plunge down the direction of the mouse. Once she was getting close to the ground she let her wings go out slowing her down. She concentrated on the prey letting her talons extend, her talons closed around the mouse letting it struggle for a second while she flapped her wings lifting into the sky. She looked for a tree to sit in while she ate her mouse. Soon one caught her eyes, she landed smoothly and sat devouring her small mouse. As she did this she listened to the dark forest around her hoping for no trouble.

Ashes stalked slowly through the bushes, hoping to at least find something to eat. He picked up the scent of mouse, and eventually spotted it. He watched it walk around the sand by the ravine and was about to pounce, when suddenly a large white owl flew down and snatched it. He hurried backwards, not wanting to get an eye scratched out. That owl stole my prey! He thought to himself, and watched it fly to its perch. Maybe I could somehow catch the owl... No, I'll get scratched to death! It would be best to not be very aggressive towards it. Owl does sound good though. Ashes turned and went back into the forest. Eventually he found a mouse and quickly grabbed it. He lightly pushed it out into a place where the owl could see it, and was waiting for the owl to come down so he could try to grab it before it flew back up.

Aldara finished her mouse quickly and looked around. She heard the footsteps of a animal close by. She listened for a better sense of what it was, nothing... She soon noticed another mouse, she watched it carefully. It seemed a bit startled like something was near, it must have noticed the same as the snowy owl. The only thing lighting the area around the ravine was the moon, her sight was better in the dark of a new moon so she didn't see much other then the mouse. It soon calmed down so she took that as her chance, if something was waiting down there she was prepared to battle. Especially if it was using the mouse as bait, she fluffed her feathers before spreading her wings and flying up out of the tree of which she had perched. She flew in the direction of Bondi Forest in attempt to make whatever was near the mouse think she was leaving. Once she was away from the mouse by a good distance she flew straight up and spun around until she was going straight back towards the ravine. Aldara flew down into the tree's dodging them until she found herself flying towards a black fox. She was right something was using the mouse as bait and it was a tricky fox. She hated foxes out of any animal, mainly because they are hard to trust. Quickly she extended her talons and let out a loud screech, she usually wasn't aggressive but she knew this fox wanted to hurt her. Before she reached the fox she lifted up hoping that she gave it a scare and making it so it didn't have time to pounce. Once in the air she circled back down and went after the fox again, flying up before she got to it. The third time she flew down though she actually went for the mouse, it tried to hide but before it could get away her talons wrapped around it killing it instantly. She flew back to where she had perched before and watched the shadows where the fox had been hidden before. She was not hungry at the moment so she was going to save this mouse.

The large owl finally figured that the fox had left so she decided to rest her wings a bit. She let her eyes close as she kept listening for anything that could pose a threat. She was not fully asleep but it would appear as if she was to any other animal. Her breaths were slow and relaxing as she sat on her perch. 'This would be a nice place for my winter hollow' she thought. She thought of what winter was going to be like, Aldara just hoped that it wasn't a bad winter. She was strong enough to fly through a blizzard but preferred not to take a risk like that. Her thoughts were everywhere, she fluffed her wings before closing her eyes once more to relax.

Axel quietly swooped down in between trees, searching for prey to eat before wandering around, looking for an female like he always do. Spotting an hare, he quickly adjusted himself so he was slowly falling downwards towards the hare. When his talons was in reach, he sank his talons into the hare and pushed off the ground for an boost as he flew back up, trying to keep the squirming hare still. He landed on an nearby tree and started to rip off its fur with is beak when he spotted an snow-white female perching on a branch below him. He carefully placed the hare down, which was dead now and flew to the branch the other owl was on. "Hellooooo" he hooted loudly, trying to get the female to wake up.

Aldara heard another owl land above her but still kept her eyes closed, she heard it tearing at some type of prey at the same moment. When she noticed the owl move down next to her and speak she quickly opened her eyes and turned her head towards him. "Hello, may I ask who you are?" Aldara cooed kindly. She shook her head at her rudeness Did you forget something a voice went through her head. "Excuse my rudeness, I am Aldara." she looked at the multi-colored owl in wonder. She had no idea who he was and why he was there but she truly didn't care. She was going to be nice to anyone she met.
